Ordering Repeat Prescriptions

The easiest way to order repeat prescriptions are:

Using your NHS account (please add the link – https://www.nhs.uk/nhs-app/ )

Using the GP online system (please add the link –  https://systmonline.tpp-uk.com )

These accounts show all your repeat medicine and you can choose the ones you need.

You can also

  • Email – you can email the surgery on stapenhill.medical@nhs.net with your request. You MUST include your full name, address and date of birth, along with the names of medication required.
  • fill out a repeat prescription request form
  • come to the surgery Monday to Friday 8am to 6pm and complete a request form

WE DO NOT ACCEPT TELEPHONE REQUESTS FOR MEDICATION.

Please do NOT book GP telephone appointments for requesting repeat prescriptions.

Collecting your Prescription

Once your medication request has been processed by ourselves, a prescription will then be sent to your nominated pharmacy for collection.

You can usually collect your prescription from the pharmacy 3 to 5 working days after you have ordered it.

You will need to choose a pharmacy to collect your prescription from. This is called nominating a pharmacy.

You can change your nominated pharmacy at any time:

  • on the app or website where you order repeat prescriptions from
  • at your own GP practice
  • at any pharmacy that accepts repeat prescriptions

NHS App – now with EPS nomination functionality

The NHS App team at NHS Digital have been working on this development for some time, but its release has been prioritised to help patients and primary care teams better cope with ordering and obtaining prescriptions during the pandemic.

Instructions of how to download and use the App can be found at: https://www.nhs.uk/using-the-nhs/nhs-services/the-nhs-app/ and https://www.nhs.uk/using-the-nhs/nhs-services/the-nhs-app/help/

You will be able to order your repeat prescriptions and also nominate a local pharmacy for Electronic Prescription Services.

The terms of use section https://www.nhs.uk/using-the-nhs/nhs-services/the-nhs-app/terms/ may provide further information.

Questions about your prescription

If you have questions about your medicine, your local pharmacists can answer these. They can also answer questions on medicines you can buy without a prescription.

The NHS website has information on how your medicine works, how and when to take it, possible side effects and answers to your common questions.

If you would like to speak to someone at the GP surgery about your prescription:

  • phone our pharmacist on 01283 565200

Medication reviews

If you have a repeat prescription, we may ask you to come in for a regular review. We will be in touch when you need to come in for a review.

What to do with old medicines

Take it to the pharmacy you got it from. Do not put it in your household bin or flush it down the toilet.

About pharmacists

As qualified healthcare professionals, pharmacists can offer advice on minor illnesses such as:

  • coughs
  • colds
  • sore throats
  • tummy trouble
  • aches and pains

They can also advise on medicine that you can buy without a prescription.

Many pharmacies are open until late and at weekends. You do not need an appointment.

Most pharmacies have a private consultation room where you can discuss issues with pharmacy staff without being overheard.
